Girl Gamer Spotlight: Lights

By Saffrin on January 31st, 2010

If you don't think that many cute girls play World of Warcraft, you'd be sorely mistaken.

Introducing Lights.

She's cute, talented, down to earth, understands geeky WoW humor, and is extremely passionate about the game we all know and love. What's not to like?

Some background information:

Her full name is Valerie Anne Poxleitner, although she prefers to go by Lights. She is a 22 year old Canadian musician who specializes in what she likes to call, intergalactic-electro music. She got her hands on her first guitar at the young age of 9, and by 11 she wrote her very first song. More recently, you may have seen her on the Disney Channel or your local music channel, or heard of her concert tour with Owl City.

Now on to the more interesting stuff:

She has a passion for World of Warcraft that would put the average WoW player to shame. Let's take a closer look at a couple of her personal videos.

LIGHTS on Gaming:

Here she talks about her love for gaming. If you skip a minute ahead, she cracks a cute joke about Canada being Northrend. She then goes on to talk about how WoW is her second life, and tells us about her 80 Female Human Fury Warrior, who she likes to call, Lights "Two-Handed Weapons" Poxleitner. Like most of us, she's also no stranger to alts. As of this video, she has multiple characters under level 40 and a level 77 Unholy Death Knight that she loves to cast death grip with, comparing it to Wonder Woman's lasso.

Here's where it starts to gets really good. She went as far as getting a Twinblade of the Phoenix tattoo'd to her right forearm. She also met her boyfriend in World of Warcraft who plays a Resto Druid by the name of Mutemath. There's a cheesy WoW romance joke thrown in near the end of the video, but you'll have to watch the clip to hear it!

LIGHTS' Video Blog:

Here she's wearing an old school TMNT shirt that a lot of you may get a kick out of. She only talks about WoW for the early part of the video between :13 and :39. She talks about her newest exclusive in-game pet, Frosty the Undead Dragon Whelp, and goes on to showcase several of her in-game WoW pets next to her Warrior.

I'll leave all of you with a video of her doing an acoustic version of Saviour. Her smile here is contagious and it's well worth the watch.

If you want to show your support for a fellow WoW gamer, visit her official site and her myspace, and show her some love!
