The hit cap is 8% -3% from precision. If you’re alliance you need 1 less from draenei racial but you’re also gay. The expertise cap is 26. These are the most important stats to aim for, until you reach the cap on those two stats they’re worth far more than strength or armor pen. Assuming you’re already at the hit and exp caps, depending on gear level you want to mass either strength or armor pen. At lower gear levels strength is worth more than armor pen and you just want to gem every socket with strength. A socket bonus with a yellow gem granting 4 or more strength is worth gemming str/crit for.

As you start to near ~40% arp from gear alone it’s worth it to gem to the armor penetration soft cap. The arp soft cap is reaching 100% arp with a trinket procced. The trinkets you’ll want to aim for is either the difficult to get, and far superior Mjolnir Runestone from ulduar 10, or the shitty Needle Encrusted Scorpion. But rodemboo, NES is higher ilvl!! Yes it is. It’s also a very low proc rate and runestone is better. Good luck getting one.

When you get better gear, you’ll start to regem your soft cap arp gems to str so as not to exceed the cap, and eventually reach the soft cap from gear alone. This is when it’s time to try to hard cap. First step: GET Deathbringer’s Will. This trinket is insane, the passive arp makes getting to the hard cap much easier. If you don’t have one and can’t get one, don’t fret. Hopefully you have another decent trinket to replace your arp proc trinket. Banner of Victory is a somewhat decent option and will help you with your hard cap goal. Next step: put arp in every socket. Still use str/crit in 4+ str socket bonuses until you’re at about 90% passive, then you can ignore 4 str socket bonuses for pure 20 arp gems. Never ignore 6 str bonuses. The rare item here and there will have an arp socket bonus: if you have this you’re bad.

        Spec/Glyphs

Depending on what you mainly do on your character you’ll want to tweak your spec very minimally. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LA0M0fhZhxe0V0uMeRVzAo:GoM is pretty standard; some people prefer not having points in unbridled wrath (it’s not really needed at higher gear levels, but can still come in handy, and is nice at lower gear levels where rage is an issue). If you do a lot of heroics or prefer not changing specs for BGs or whatever else you like to waste your time on you can move points from deflection to iron will but face it you still suck so why bother.

For maximized single target dps you’ll want a spec like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LGbc0fhZhxeoV0uMeRV0Ao:Goq again some people prefer unbridled wrath points in booming voice/commanding presence, however i’m not a bitch so i make brosin do shouts. You should get a shout bitch for raiding. Also make him sunder. Piercing howl is fight specific. You’ll want it for dreamwalker and lich king for sure, it might come in handy for when you’re getting stomped in BGs too, who knows.

        Rotation

This is where I tell you exactly how to play. The first thing to do when dpsing is look around you. If there is more than one mob you want to push cleave and never stop pushing cleave. If there is only one mob you push heroic strike and never stop pushing heroic strike. Either way you’ll probably pull aggro and die. You have 3 specials: Bloodthirst, Whirlwind and Slam. Prioritize bloodthirst if there aren’t multiple mobs, if there are multiple mobs you should obviously be whirlwinding. After bloodthirst and whirlwind your third priority is Slam. When bloodsurge procs you have 5 seconds to use slam. Try to get both BT and WW on cooldown then use slam. If slam is about to fall, prioritize it over another instant. If Slam procs while both BT and WW are on cooldown use it immediately, and if the cooldowns of BT and WW are staggered, use it between them. Now if you find yourself specced for rend, BT and WW are on >1.5s cd, and you have no bloodsurge, you will want to quickly dance to battle rend and back to berserker. This will net you about 200dps if you’re well geared.
Rodemboo when should I be using execute? You don’t. If all above qualifications have been met, BT and WW on cooldown, no slam, and you have a dickload of rage that you don’t feel is valuable you can use execute. It’s also decent to use if your gear is horrendous. At decent gear levels you will typically use execute never. Now and then on a fight where you’re fed rage.

Thanks for reading my guide I hope it helps you in some way. Probably not though.

HAVE A MAGICAL DAY!!!!
2010-03-01T06:25:48-05:00 Arms warrior 101: Intro http://riotactguild.com/forum/viewthread/56/ http://riotactguild.com/forum/viewthread/56/#When:17:34:48Z
Going to cover the basic arms warrior principles in this to start (gearing, gemming, enchants, spec, etc. etc.)

Spec:

There are two basic arms warrior specs

For Incite the basic spec is the 55/8/8 (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LhrhbfIt0obRdGuiohxZbI)
For Improved Execute the spec is 54/17/0 (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LhrhbfIt00bRdGuioGx00xb)

The Improved Execute spec will be the best spec for you if your gear level is T8 or below. Once your gear roughly passes that level the Incite spec will be superior. As always if your raid needs Commanding Presence or Improved Demoralizing Shout (i.e. if there isn’t a ret pally in the group) the execute spec is the one you would use.

The incite spec requires more crit and much better rage management but when done correctly will net a higher dps number. The incite spec thrives on fights with high incoming damage (Twins, BQL, festergut) but will still perform well with good rage management on other fights. Imp. Execute spec gets a moderate buff with t10 4p but will still underperform due to bad scaling with str.

And I have to go to class now so more later tonight.

2010-01-26T17:34:48-05:00
